COOK WITH KNORR MURAL
KNORR Commissioned Faith to paint A MURAL IN DENVER, COLORADO. The wall measured 40ft x 20ft — a total of 800 SQ FT.
This mural incorporated a lot of elements that reflected ON FAITH’s HERITAGE. Some key elements included were:
8 FRAMES OF A PAGE IN A PHOTO ALBUM. THE NUMBER 8 WAS CHOSEN SINCE IT IS A LUCKY NUMBER IN CHINESE CULTURE.
EACH FOOD DESIGN WAS SELECTED BASED OFF OF FAITH’S FAVORITE DISHES. THE MOST NOTABLE ONES WERE CANH CHUA — VIETNAMESE SOUP USING KNORR’S TAMARIND SOUP MIX, 雲吞麵 (WON TON MEIN) — CANTONESE WON TON NOODLE USING KNORR’S CHICKEN POWDER, AND 紅桃粿 PNG KUEH —TEOCHEW DISH USING KNORR’S SEASONING LIQUID AS A DIPPING SAUCE.
“HAVE YOU EATEN YET” is a common phrase used IN ASIAN IMMIGRANT/REFUGEE HOUSEHOLD IN WHICH PARENTS WOULD OFTEN ASK THEIR CHILDREN AS A FORM OF CARE. THE PHRASE WAS ALSO CARRIED OUT IN FAITH’S OTHER LANGUANGES (VIETNAMESE, CANTONESE, AND TEOCHEW)
CHINESE MONEY PLANT (PILEA peperomioides) WAS CHOSEN BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON ASIAN HOUSEHOLD PLANT SYMBOLIZING WEALTH AND PROSPERITY.
tHE MURAL PAINTING PROCESS TOOK 5 DAYS TO PAINT WHICH INCLUDED PRIMING AND PAINTING WHILE FILMING A DOCUSERIES
